What makes me "Me"

What makes me "Me"

I seem to spend a lot of time thinking about the past. Maybe it's because I'm old, maybe it's because I only remember the good things, maybe it's a combination of the two, or maybe—just maybe—it comes as a result of a satisfied life.

Whatever the reason, I remember my years as a kid growing up, as the best years of my life.

No—wait a minute: My time in the US Navy was pretty fantastic — Now that I think about it, the best had to be when we got married, no — our 18-month stay in Madagascar under contract with NASA, no — the birth of our children, no — our children's weddings, no — the birth of our grandchildren, well . . . maybe.

When all is boiled down, sorted out, and I attempt to file things in order of joyful experiences I come to one conclusion.

The best memories are those I am making today, and those I will make tomorrow. They, like all the others, are my life and I have been blessed to recognize the good things, remember them, and forget the heartbreak along the way. We all have periods of hardship, sadness, and grief. If we have a healthy mind secure in our faith in Jesus Christ, the secret is to accept it all and move on, sure in the knowledge that there will be sunshine in your future.
