I seem to spend a lot of time thinking about the past. Maybe it's because I'm old, maybe it's because I only remember the good things, maybe it's a combination of the two, or maybe—just maybe—it comes as a result of a satisfied life.

Whatever the reason, I remember my years as a kid growing up, as the best years of my life.

No—wait a minute:My time in the US Navy was pretty fantastic — Now that I think about it, the best had to be when we got married, no — our 18-month stay in Madagascar under contract with NASA, no — the birth of our children, no — our children's weddings, no — the birth of our grandchildren, no . . .

When all is boiled down, sorted out, and I attempt to file things in order of joyful experiences I come to one conclusion.

The best memories are those I am making today, and those I will make tomorrow. They, like all the others, are my life and I have been blessed to recognize the good things, remember them, and forget the heartbreak along the way. We all have periods of hardship, sadness, and grief. If we have a healthy mind, the secret is to accept it all and move on, sure in the knowledge that there will be sunshine in your future.

My most favorite uncle has written those words of wisdom and optimism and through his eyes I am also able to remember the good things that life has offered me! Yes, there have been sad times but every time I hear my uncles voice, see his smiling eyes or as now read his written words he brings me joy, happiness and hope!! This is why I love him so much! Way to go my dear uncle!! So looking forward to reading more!
